Customer service

#1) "In branch" service

This might be their strong point... they have been known to go out of their way to meet customer needs. In general they have better customer service than a lot of other banks nowadays.

Don't fret if you see some negative reviews of their service online. EVERY bank has their naysayers... and while the customer service at Barclays is FAR from perfect, it usually gets the job done.

#2) Call centers

While Barclays Bank USA outsource their call centers--like most other banks-the quality of service and English spoke is still quite good. Obviously it depends on who you get... but as a general rule you can except good over the phone service.

Interest rates

This is obviously what everybody is interested in. These are always subject to change, but right now if you keep less than $1000 in your savings account you will get roughly a 1% rate. If you have more than 1000 it's 3%.

In other words...

This is NOT extremely generous when compared with other companies but there are worse around. the more restricted the savings account is, the better your rates will be.

I wouldn't recommend their savings account as a LONG TERM investment... but it is an effective store house while you are searching for more lucrative investments.

Barclays Bank USA just gets the job done. They aren't flashy but you know what you're getting with them-good customer service, secure internet banking, and reasonable interest rates.
